Mainnet vs. Testnet
Alpaca DEX supports two distinct networks: Keeta Mainnet and Keeta Testnet. Understanding the difference is crucial before you start trading, providing liquidity, or launching a token.
Quick Comparisonโ
| Feature | ๐งช Keeta Testnet | ๐ Keeta Mainnet |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Sandbox for testing | Live production environment |
| Token Value | $0 (Fake Money) | Real Value |
| Risk | Zero Risk | Real Financial Risk |
| Source of Funds | Free (via Faucet) | Bought / Earned / Bridged |
| Transactions | Reversible / Experimental | Permanent & Final |
What is the Keeta Testnet?โ
The Testnet is a sandbox environment designed for experimentation. It is an exact replica of the Keeta blockchain, but the tokens used here have no real-world value.
Developers and users use the Testnet to "break things" safely.
Why use the Testnet?โ
- Practice Trading: Learn how to swap and provide liquidity without risking a single dollar.
- Test Projects: If you are a developer, you can launch your token contracts here to ensure they work before deploying them to the public.
- Explore Features: Get familiar with transaction speeds, gas fees, and the Alpaca interface.
Since Testnet tokens are worthless, you can get them for free! Head over to the Keeta Faucet to claim free KTA and PACA test tokens instantly.
What is the Keeta Mainnet?โ
The Mainnet is the live, production version of the Keeta blockchain. This is where the real economy exists.
Key Characteristicsโ
- Real Value: Every token traded here (KTA, PACA, USDT) has actual market value.
- Immutability: Transactions cannot be undone. Once you send funds or swap tokens, the action is permanent.
- Live Liquidity: You are interacting with real market participants, arbitrage bots, and liquidity providers.
Use Mainnet when you are ready to:
- Trade with real capital.
- Earn yield by providing liquidity.
- Launch a verified project to the public.
Same Wallet, Two Networksโ
One very onvenvient feature of Keeta's infrastructure is that your wallet address is identical on both networks.
- Your Address:
keeta_aab...(Same for Mainnet & Testnet) - Your Keys: The same Private Key / Seed Phrase controls both.
How to Switchโ
You do not need to create a new wallet. Simply toggle the network setting in your wallet (e.g., MetaMask or Alpaca Wallet) to switch views.
Never send Mainnet tokens to a Testnet address (or vice versa).
Even though the addresses look the same, the networks are completely isolated.
- If you send Real KTA to a Testnet deposit address, it may be lost forever.
- Always check which network your wallet is connected to (look for the "Testnet" indicator) before sending a transaction.
